Grows such as this one will be arriving in Maryland as cultivator licenses are issued.

The state of Maryland’s Cannabis Commission will be awarding 15 winners cultivator licenses today, August 5th, 2016.

After long, unanticipated delays, the date has finally arrived. Today the Maryland Medical Cannabis commission will vote on the Stage One license pre-approvals for 15 growers and 15 processors. Coded application numbers will be voted on by the Commission to select and award the Stage One pre-approvals for Maryland’s growers and processors. Maryland’s medical marijuana program has sustained many delays up until this point. It has been nearly nine months since applicants applied for these sought-after licenses. However with this selection process finally taking place Maryland is ready to truly open its doors to the medical marijuana industry. This is great news for the hundreds of applicants that applied, as well for thousands of Maryland residents who eagerly await the commencement of the Medical Marijuana Program. It should be noted that non-Maryland residents will also be allowed to receive their Maryland Medical Marijuana Cards.

The entity names of winners will be released on August 15, after administrative processes and preliminary background checks are completed. After Stage One pre-approvals are awarded, the Commission will perform extensive financial due diligence and background investigations of all those named in the application.
